The story follows Sheeta, a young girl with a mysterious crystal, and Pazu, a boy who dreams of finding the mythical flying city of Laputa. Together, they embark on an adventure to uncover the secrets of Laputa while being pursued by pirates, military agents, and government officials, all of whom want the power of Sheeta's crystal.
The film explores themes of friendship, greed, and the destructive potential of technology, while showcasing Miyazaki's signature breathtaking landscapes and imaginative world-building. It was Studio Ghibli’s first feature film and is considered a classic in Japanese animation.
